Nettie Alice Taylor Moody

Nettie Alice Taylor Moody, 89, of Seaboard, died on Tuesday, March 19, 2019.

A native of Northampton County, Nettie was the daughter of the late Kinchen Adbeal and Willie Princess Smith Taylor. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jesse T. Moody; her sister, Sibyl Ahearn; her brother, Ned C. Taylor; and her special friend, William Hines.

Nettie Alice was a graduate of Seaboard High School and also of the Roanoke Rapids Hospital Nursing Program. Nettie Alice was Dr. Joe Fleetwood's nurse for many years. She was an active member of the Eastern Star, Seaboard Chapter, and was on the Board of Directors of the Conway-Severn Rescue Squad.

She was a lifelong active member of Galatia Baptist Church. Her witnessing included visiting homes, shut-ins, and nursing facilities in the area. She loved baking food and sharing it when she was visting, especially her little layer chocolate cake.

The family would like to offer a special thank-you to Pine Forest Rest Home, Northampton County Nursing and Rehabilitation, and her sitters for all of their care and love for Nettie Alice.

Nettie Alice is survived by her daughters, Ann M. Dezern of Pine Knoll Shores, and Connie M. Hargrave and her husband, Tommy of Garysburg; two grandsons, Darrin R. Sismour of Wilson, and Jacob T. Hargrave of Garysburg.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Galatia Baptist Church in Seaboard with Rev. David Foster officiating.

Interment will follow in the Town of Conway Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at Askew Funeral Services - Jackson-Chapel, Jackson, NC.
